CTE Mission: CubeSat Virtual Information Session

CTE Mission: CubeSat is a national challenge to build technical skills for careers in space and beyond. The U.S. Department of Education invites high schools to bring space missions to students by designing and building CubeSat prototypes — in the classroom or at home. On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, join U.S. Department of Education Education Program Specialist Albert Palacios for a virtual information session on CTE Mission: CubeSat. On September 23, 2019, together with the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Safe Supportive Schools (OSSS), the Title IV, Part A Technical Assistance Center (T4PA Center) led a virtual convening with Title IV, Part A State Coordinators (SCs) from across the United States and outlying areas. During the one-day meeting, SCs discussed program requirements, reflected on their needs and how the T4PA Center can address them, and considered key information on and experiences in administering and implementing Title IV, Part A (Title IV-A).

On January 9-10, 2018, the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Safe and Healthy Students (OSHS) led a convening in Washington, DC with 48 Program State Coordinators from across the United States and outlying areas. During the one day and a half meeting, Title IV, Part A, Student Support & Academic Enrichment (SSAE) Program State Coordinators learned and discussed SSAE program implementation, monitoring, and reporting; shared their approaches to the SSAE program; conversed about resources and technical assistance available to States; and built networks with fellow State Coordinators and federal staff.


Lessons Learned from OSHS’ Review of Submitted Consolidated State Plans and Q & As on Subgranting FY 2017 SSAE Funds to LEAs

ESSA, Title IV, Part A: Changes to the Title IV, Part A, Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) Grants Resulting from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017 (Public Law 115-31) became law on May 5, 2017.  Provisions in the law made important changes in FY 2017 to the Title IV, Part A Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) Grant program, including, but not limited to, providing State educational agencies with the option of making competitive subgrants to eligible local educational agencies (rather than by formula).
